1.
Can you give us a brief introduction of Object
Software?
Object Software Limited ("Object Software")
is a PC game developer, with a Studio in Beijing's
Haidian District that has over 100 employees engaged
in game production. Object Software has been operating
in China's capital since February 1995. Object
Software specializes in PC games set in ancient
Chinese historical contexts and is best known
for "Fate of the Dragon," a real time
strategy game set in the famous Three Kingdoms
Period of China's history about 1800 years ago,
which was released around the world by Eidos in
March 2001.
2. What did you do before
Fate of the Dragon?
Our first game was a DOS-to-Windows conversion
of a game originally called Quarterpole that was
renamed Hooves of Thunder. Microleague Multimedia
owned this product, and we converted the code
and did entirely new artwork. The game was released
in North America in January 1996 and received
favorable reviews from the media.
3. Before "Fate of
the Dragon", what's your game you are mostly
proud of?
"Metal Knight", it was a command &
conquer style real time strategy game with robots
and was an instant success on the Chinese Mainland
market. Later in 1998 "Metal Knight"
was licensed for sale in Taiwan and Hong Kong
and was ranked by "Game World" in Taiwan
as a 4 star game. In 1999 Metal Knight was released
on the U.S. market by Global Village, Inc.
4. Usually, how long does
it take to develop a game?
A typical game for the PC will take us around
2 years to develop.
